The name of the topic is Sensory Spores.

For my thesis, I plan to design an installation based on affective interfaces, by leveraging the technology to detect and respond to human emotions. The idea is to create a small-scale ‘garden’ where ‘plants’ and ‘flowers’ will have LED lights inside them. Based on the bio feedback from either EEG or pulse sensor, these ‘plants’ and ‘flowers’ will ‘dance’ corresponding to the data. The tools I will utilize for the project are:

The reason why I choose this topic is because as someone who cares about the environment, I want to build a connection between humans and nature to highlight the importance of their part in our everyday lifestyle.. Through this installation, users resonate with the plants either through their conscious or heartbeat.

Some of the inspirations I found while researching more about the topic are listed below:

Further steps…

  1. Study human-environment relationship - Plan the type of flowers & plants I can use in the ‘garden’.
  2. Gather assets - Arduino, necessary sensors, lights, Max set up
  3. Assembly - Assemble the parts to create the garden
